In 1931, Nancy Leadbetter opened the first Leadbetter’s Bakery in Portland, Maine, creating an East Coast staple known for its hearty and delicious English muffins. Nearly a century and four generations later, Jamieson Leadbetter is bringing this family tradition back - this time to San Francisco’s iconic Castro neighborhood.
From 2009 to 2015, Leadbetter’s Bake Shop earned a devoted Bay Area following, with our English muffins featured in Whole Foods, beloved local cafés, and platforms like Instacart and Good Eggs. Now, we’re dusting off the flour and firing up the griddles for a new chapter.
If you’ve missed that perfect combination of a crisp exterior and pillowy interior, you won’t have to wait much longer. We’re coming soon to the Castro.
